Getting into a groove

We are wrapping up day three in Jerusalem. Quick general observations:
  1. We have an awesome tour guide recommended by Jill Rosen. You know if Jill has no complaints about something it has to be good.
  2. We are covering a lot of ground considering that we have a two year old that is fairly non-compliant when it comes to getting in and out of things like car seats and strollers and a mother-in-law who likes to mark her territory at each site.
  3. So far we have seen: Yad Vashem, Biblical Zoo, Palmach Museum, Ammunition Hill, The Bullet Factory, Tel Aviv farmers/crafts market, archaeological sites in the Old City, walked the wall of the Old City and we even planted some trees in the JNF forest.
  4. Out of 6 meals outside the apartment so far Andrew has had shawarma 4 times. I think it is starting to become an actual goal of his to eat NOTHING else for lunch and if possible have it for dinner as well.

Still looking for a full nights sleep. I took an Ambien last night for the first time on this trip since I hadn't slept for so long. Sadly Ambien is no match for your two year old daughter waking you up at 2:30 AM by vomiting all over your chest and head. I'm beginning to think it wasn't the milk that made Claire throw up.

Holy Guacamole! The Axelrods are in the Holy Land

After a flight that was enhanced by Claire being served curdled milk which she promptly regurgitated on the plane, we arived in the land of Milk & Honey (When I told Claire that was another name for Israel she became very excited because she loves milk so much). Sadly the first milk we bought at the market here was curdled as well.

We arrived late in the afternoon so we went and got some shawarma and falafel on Ben Yehuda St. and came back to the apartment and went to bed.

This morning was a difficult start for the kids since nobody took my advice on the flight and took the Ambien that I tried to force feed them. Our guide Yakov picked us up for a delayed start at 10. We toured the old city today and walked the wall. Everyone shook out the cobwebs and got cooking by about lunch time. We had our second round of falafel & shawarma for lunch today. I'm pretty confident that Andrew will start looking and smelling like shawarma by the end of the trip.

Here are some pictures from last night on Ben Yehuda St.

Hang on, that might be from the night before on Joel Drive.
